"What’s this slimy white stuff doing in my mouth?"
Tofu. Can be a vegetarian nightmare. Look at it this way - when recipe books say "Tofu is very good at taking on the flavours of the other things it’s cooked with," one begins to wonder what’s the point of adding it in the first place.
Tofu, cubed.
A large bunch of fresh coriander. The size of bunch you get in Asian shops
for 39p, not the piffling sprig you get at Safeway for 99p, Chop coarsely.
A red pepper, shredded into strips.
A red and green chilli, thinly sliced.
1 dsp. Ground arrowroot or cornflour, mixed into 1 cup water.
Heat a little peanut or sunflower oil in a wok.
Add salt.
Stir fry peppers and chillis.
Add Tofu and coriander.
Add arrowroot solution, and cook until it thickens.
Serve with boiled rice, and perhaps a little wasabi on the side.
Tora! Tora! Tora!.
