A Simple Pasta

Slice some mushrooms, chop some courgettes, break up some broccoli into bits, thinly slice wee bit of red pepper and a small onion, crush a clove of garlic.

Saute for a while in butter.

Stir in a decent amount of creme fraiche (Good stuff for cooking. Doesn't curdle when heated). Add salt and pepper to taste. Maybe a wee bit of paprika too.

Use as a sauce for pasta.

****** A Note on Freedom. *****

On a recent visit to North Yorkshire, I was alarmed by two things. Firstly, there were far too many postcards of Nick Berry and Bill Maynard for my liking, but none of her that used to play Anna the Polish hooker in Brookside. But more germane to today's theme - Free Houses. Most pubs in the area seem to be owned by either Samuel Smiths (Brilliant! One of the world's great beers. UNESCO should designate it a World Heritage Ale), Theakstons (No bad - but not as good as it used to be when it was still brewed in Masham) or the "Pubmaster" chain. (Plastic. They sell some dull slop called Cameron's Strongarm). Then there were the Free Houses. Now, in theory they would be free to serve whatever beer they want. Just think of the possibilities from Yorkshire alone - Sam Smiths, Black Sheep, Timmy Taylors (Even better than Sam Smiths)......... So why is it that every single one of them, WITHOUT EXCEPTION has plumped for John Smiths? Every bit as bland as the former politician of the same name.

Which made me think of a political analogy. We live in the Free World. We are free to follow market capitalism. We are free give Murdoch control of our media. Etc. etc. etc.

Keep on Rockin in the Free House.
